The official name is "The Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster" but it is almost always referred to as Westminster Abbey. In and around Trafalgar Square, The 18ft high statue of Nelson sits on 151ft of granite. The column was built between 1840 and 1843 to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The English Chamber Orchestra gets it's name from Trafalgar Square's St Martin-in-the-Fields church, in which its first concert was performed. London, England travel: Hyde Park / Kensington Palace / Royal Albert Hall slideshow Hyde Park, plus Kensington Gardens, have a combined area of over 625 acres right in the middle of London. Beautiful! Kensington Palace is the Royal residence set inside Kensington Gardens, and Princess Diana remained there after her marriage ended and until the day of her death. Her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, went to local nursery and pre-preparatory schools in Notting Hill, which is a short drive away. Lastly, we are outside the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences, an arts venue dedicated to Queen Victoria's husband Prince Albert. It is situated in the South Kensington area of London , England.
